The Motorola Moto Z (now owned by Lenovo) and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 are premium mid-range phones, and it will be interesting to see how they fair against each other to provide the best for their price to their users.

The Moto Z's back covers can be witched for an evergreen look. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 feels good on the hand too with its premium metallic finish.

The Moto Z packs a 5.5-inch quad-HD (2560x1440 pixels) AMOLED display, which does sufficiently well in daylight - showing crisp colors; here, there's not much to complain about. However, it could have been a little brighter with deeper blacks; nonetheless, the viewing angles on the Moto Z are brilliant. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 packs a large 5.5-inch IPS screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The display is not something to boast about - providing just enough for a phone of its range.

Under the hood, the Moto Z has a 2.15GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. The phone is dualSIM with a hybrid card slot. It also supports 4G LTE (VoLTE-ready), USB Type-C, OTG and NFC connectivity option.

The Redmi Note 3 has two versions - the MediaTek Helio X10 version and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 version. Both of these phones provide enough juice to fulfill your advanced needs on the phone. The Redmi Note 3, however, lacks NFC. The Moto Z runs on Marshmallow while the Redmi Note 3 showcases MIUI skinned Android Lollipop, which is a version older.

The Moto Z has a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, laser autofocus, Optical Image Stabilisation and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. Its shutter speed at focusing capabilities are good, but low light photography can be a bit of challenge. The Redmi Note 3 has a 13MP snapper with a f/2.2 aperture, phase-detection autofocus, and dual-LED flash. The images captured are quite all right but nothing special to send feel amazed about.

The slightly weaker factor on the Moto Z could be its battery. The 2600 mAH battery can be a bit of challenge to last an entire day. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 3, with its 4000 mAH battery, takes the flag easily with by lasting an entire day with moderate use.

Both the phones offer good feedbacks at their price range. Hence, the decision between the two could be solely based on the price range and the love for Android. If you are concerned about battery, it is recommended that you go with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
