Two tech giants namely Microsoft and Samsung are fighting hard to take a bigger slice of the growing wearable industry. Today, we will get our hands-on the Microsoft Band 2 and the Samsung Gear Fit 2.

Here is a comparison of the two in terms of ergonomics, specs, features and battery life.

When it comes to ergonomics, the Gear Fit wearable is the clear winner. Microsoft's curved screen is just not enough to meet the current standards. The band is also fragile, with many users complaining that it breaks after a while. The Gear Fit 2's simple clasp makes it much easier to wear than the band.

Both devices sport an AMOLED display with poor visibility in sunlight. Band 2 offers 320×128 pixels while Fit 2 has a bigger resolution - at 432×216.

Interestingly, both bands show notifications from mobile phone but can't handle calls. Additionally, Band 2 comes integrated with voice detection software- Cortana and also displays weather, unlike Fit 2.

Both models support a variety of activities like walking, running, cycling, squats, weight lifting, and much more. The Band 2 has an edge with Optical hear rate sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, ambient light sensor, skin temperature sensor, UV sensor, capacitive sensor, galvanic skin response and barometer. While Fit 2 has Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate Sensor, better GPS and Barometer. Band 2 takes more time to establish a GPS connection.

The Gear Fit 2 lasts a decent 5 to 6 hours on GPS, while beating the Band 2 that doesn't last longer than 3 to 4 hours on GPS. Both take approx. 1 hour with a standard 1.5A charger.

The Microsoft Band 2 has lesser battery and comfort than the Samsung Gear Fit 2, but it offers more sensors while supporting Windows, Android and iOS phones. Overall, the Gear Fit 2 is still recommended, but if you want a device that supports not only Android, then the Band 2 may be the right choice.
