The two new latest premium smartphones Google Pixel and the HTC 10 are offering a lot of common features. However, they still have certain differences that once highlighted, will help you decide the right smartphone for you.

The Google Pixel XL and HTC 10 sport similar-sized screens, but the HTC 10 is a little bulkier and heavier.

While the HTC 10 sports a super-crisp Quad HD screen, the Pixel phone fares evenly with a Full HD panel with the powerful brightness levels in both.

When it comes to audio, the HTC 10 is the inevitable winner. Those stereo BoomSound speakers are some of the best mobile blasters you'll hear.

In terms of storage capacity, the HTC phone has the edge with expandable storage courtesy of a microSD memory card slot unlike the Pixel.

Meanwhile, the Google handset comes with Nougat pre-installed with access to Google's new Assistant AI, which is a step beyond Google Now. Whereas the HTC 10 still uses Android Marshmallow.

Both boast a fingerprint sensor and built-in NFC, although there's no IR blasters on either Android.

The HTC 10 is a powerful smartphone because of its Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM. Similarly, the Pixel phone uses the latest Snapdragon 821 processor, which promises a ten percent increase in performance over the 820 chipset.

There is unlikely any difference in real-life operation expect the benchmarking tests, where Pixel will have an edge.

In terms of power, the HTC 10, which supports fast charging runs a day and a half of life per charge. While Pixel has slightly more battery capacity than HTC 10. You once again get fast charging, and both handsets use Type-C USB for power and data transfer.

The camera quality is phenomenal in both the phones. The HTC 10's 12-megapixel camera comes with the powerful dual LED flash for low light imaging.

Pixel also have 12-megapixel camera and it again appears to shoot clean, detailed photos even in tricky lighting conditions. There's a new HDR+ mode to help out with difficult contrast too.

Either of these phones can capture up to 4K resolution video, with strong image stabilisation to cut down on shakes and judders. As for selfie cams, both have wide-angle lenses for capturing group shots with their 8-megapixel lens.

The HTC 10 is as smooth-performing as the Google Pixel XL. However, at £100 more than the HTC 10, the Pixel XL will have to be seriously impressive to warrant a purchase.
