Microsoft did not launch the Surface Pro 5 during its event last October, wherein the company showcased other devices like the Surface Studio and the Surface Book i7.

Though many were saddened that the highly anticipated tablet device was a no-show, many still believe that the Surface Pro 5 will be launched on early 2017.

The company is expected to encounter a tough competition as there would also be next-generation devices coming from other manufacturers that are set to be released on the same timeframe.

Lenovo's 2-in1 device called Lenovo Mix 720 might be one of the rivals. The device is projected to house Kaby Lake Intel's next-generation processor and might come in three variants: the Core i3-7300U, Core i5-7200U, and the Corei7-7500U.

In terms of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 features and specifications, it is also rumored to consist the Kaby Lake which is expected to be available on December this year. Reports say that the new generation chipset is one of the reasons why the release of the anticipated Surface Pro 5 was moved to 2017. The new processor is reported to give the device an improved graphics support.

The device may feature a 4K/UHD display with 3860 x 2560 LCD display and 3.2aspect ratio which is similar to the Surface Pro 3 and 4.

The device is also rumored to have a more enhanced Surface Pen which is pressure sensitive than its predecessor; might sport a USB-C port and a fingerprint scanner for providing the users with added security.

The Microsoft Pro 5 is speculated to run Windows 10 Redstone 2 and might pack a longer battery life along with 16GB of RAM.

Talking about its camera, it is reported to have a 16-megapixel rear an 8-megapixel front camera.

The basic model of the tablet device is anticipated to be priced at $899 while the high-end model is said to be available at around $18000.

Microsoft has yet to give its official statement regarding the release date and specs of the Surface Pro 5.
