Here is a quick comparison of the Motorola Moto Z, which was launched this 2016, and the older Moto X.
When it comes to overall physical design, the Moto Z is taller, wider, and sleeker than the Moto X model, while the latter remains denser.
From the display perspective, the Moto Z has a larger display, better screen resolution and higher pixel per inch compared to the Moto X according to NDTV Gadgets.
Looking under the hoods, Moto X is powered by 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 whereas Motorola Moto Z is powered by 1.8 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 as per GSM Arena. With better CPU speed and smoother experience, the Moto X seems to be the winner here.
The Motorola Moto Z has twice the RAM capacity than that of Moto X model. The Motorola Moto Z has four times the internal storage option than the Moto X. Motorola Moto Z again has expandable storage option unlike the Moto X, which it can provide up to 2000 GB.
When it comes to cameras, the Moto X comes with 13 MP rear camera and 2 MP front camera. Motorola Moto Z has 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera. Moto Z seems to be a better choice for shutterbugs.
The Moto X packs a decent battery capacity, however, it is slightly lower than that of Motorola Moto Z model. The 3.5 mm headphone jack is also present in the Moto X model but is not available in Motorola Moto Z model.
Between the two, Moto Z is the only smartphone which supports Dual-SIM .
It looks like both the Motorola Moto X and the Moto Z have strong features. It would be more of a personal preference or preference for particular feature/features to decide the winner.
