The 13th zodiac sign Ophiuchus from NASA has led to a lot of controversy in the world of both astrology and astronomy. Now, astrologers are trying to calm people down who suddenly started facing zodiac sign problems.
"All my clients are freaking out and continuously asking if I'm Cancerian or Please don't tell me I'm not a Virgo" said Shelly Ackerman, a New York based astrologer and member of the American Federation of Astrologers, in an interview.
NASA has already clarified their recent release.
According to a statement, the scientist in charge of the research had done no wrong. "We didn't change any zodiac sign, we just did the maths. Because of the change in Earth's axis, the constellations are no longer the same." explained NASA. It also went to clarify that "Astronomers and other scientists know that stars many light years away have no effect on the ordinary activities of humans on Earth"
Here is an interesting clarification between astronomy (NASA's claim) and astrology, according to astrostyle.com.
The actual constellations have shifted since Babylonians, some 3000 years ago- a fact that is well known.
However, Western Astrology is based on the apparent path of the Sun, which is seen from the vantage point on Earth. The astrologer track the planetary movement against the static zones within the path. So the zodiac sign remains the same.
Interestingly, the great mathematician and astronomer/astrologer Potelmy created the Tropical Zodiac in astrology which is independent of the changes in constellations or Earth's axis. However he used the same name for the constellation in astronomy as he did for the zodiac signs.
It has somehow led to the confusion It becomes more clear to note that few centuries ago astrology and astronomy were considered the part of same discipline.
Fun Fact: The stars which are out there some light years ago are never going to cast their spell on our birth date. For more updates and information on the new zodiac Ophuichus, stay tuned.
