Slowly, Google is turning out to be a company focusing a huge amount of effort on hardware. With the recent announcement of the Google Pixel line of product, what would become of the Nexus 6P and what would be the pros and cons of choosing either one?
With the new smartphones from Google, namely the Pixel and Pixel XL, buying the Nexus 6P might present a number reasons for consumers to have second thoughts. While Nexus 6P isn't necessarily a bad phone, the Pixel XL might be a better choice for some right now.
Based on a side by side comparison from Digital Trends, the Google Pixel XL is slightly smaller than the Nexus 6P, but not small enough to be out of the phablet category with dimensions of 6.0 x 2.9 x 0.2-0.34 inches (154.7 x 75.7 x 7.3-8.5mm).
The Pixel XL also has a slightly larger PPI of 534 than that of the Nexus 6P, which only has 515 PPI, but this also isn't a deal breaker for either.
The Pixel XL only has advantages over the Nexus 6P in terms of the RAM, where the former only had 3GB and the latter gets one more gigabyte. The processor is also a bit newer on the Pixel XL with Snapdragon 821.
Everything else is pretty much the same, except with the general quality of the photos despite having the same exact sensor sizes of 12 megapixels on the rear and 8 at front.
Price for the Nexus 6P, however, is more affordable at the moment, which starts at $500 while the Google Pixel XL is a bit more expensive with prices starting at $770.
While it is a bit debatable as to which is the better device in terms of features, build, and quality, the Pixel XL could be the better investment for people looking for a future-proof device, especially based on the recent reviews of the Pixel and Pixel XL.
