After the video regarding Google's event on October 4, more and more are anticipating the reveal of the Pixel and Pixel XL. There would be no more Nexus this time around, but what will make the Pixel series special that it will mark history?
Here are some of the rounded up expectations, rumors and theories about the Google event where consumers may see the Pixel smartphones for the first time (via TechnoBuffalo.)
Introduction of a New Brand Name
As anybody would have guessed, Google is ditching the "Nexus" brand in place of the new "Pixel" name. This isn't, by any means, something bad like having to start all over again. In fact, starting all over again is one of Google's goal in introducing a new name.
Price Hike
The price of the upcoming Pixel line of handsets could be more surprising to most as it may start somewhere $649 and above. The previous Nexus devices way back 2015 pales to compare with Nexus 5X just amounting to $379.
Andromeda Operating System
The huge price increase could mean a lot of things, but of all the reasons that this could happen, an introduction of something entirely new could be one. This hints the merger between the Android OS and the Chrome OS, which is also known as Andromeda.
Reports say that this hybrid OS will bring Android to laptops and vice versa. However, a lot of consumers may still struggle to see the sense into this as the Chrome OS could sometimes be spitting image of Android in terms of appearance and features.
Google Home
Outside the Pixel product talk, the Google Home is also another hot topic, which consumers expect in the upcoming Google event this October 4. It is Google's own version of Amazon's smart-speaker/assistant called "Echo.
There's no word yet as to what it has under its sleeves, but speculations say that it will also have the ability to provide assistance like how Amazon's Echo and even Siri can do.
Everything Else
People could also expect Google Wi-Fi, the standalone Google VR/AR headset and Chromecast Ultra amongst others. Still, all eyes will definitely be on the Pixel handsets as it could spell another innovation that was the same eight years ago when Android was introduced.
