Both smartphones from LG and Apple were ust recently launched this month. The iPhone 7 Plus is believed to have improved its optics, but how does it fare compared to the LG V20?
It is no surprise to a lot of consumers, but the LG V20 easily outclasses Apple's iPhone 7 Plus in various ways. Apple is known to lag a bit behind the current trend of technology.
While there are numerous advantage points, the LG V20 could be easily be the photography enthusiasts' choice instead of the iPhone 7 Plus for those who think that Android's running out of options to compete with Apple smartphone optics. This is the case, especially for those who haven't seen Galaxy S7's camera perform.
In paper, the LG V20's dual lens camera setup is not really that much different from the iPhone 7 Plus. In fact, aside from the bigger 16-megapixel sensor, they technically have the same aperture (f/1.8).
While most of the applications of the dual cameras on both smartphones are more gimmicky than actually useful, a head to head comparison of the same scenarios and lighting condition had been made by Ben Sin of Forbes.
The comparison was between the LG V20, iPhone 7 Plus, and Huawei P9 Plus, but both LG's and Apple's smartphone camera stood out. Surprisingly, contrary to most of the publications labeling iPhone 7 Plus as the "best smartphone camera," the results were more similar, if anything else.
There's only a bit of a difference between how the cameras handle the exposure, but all three of them produces just about the same result in terms of sharpness, clarity with a very minor advantage going to iPhone 7 Plus.
Still, when it comes to the overall quality of the phone itself including other core features and especially the price, the LG V20 could easily win by a mile and could be a nice change for those who would want to get more than adequate quality shots in the absence of a proper camera.
