"Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun" manga is set to go on a two-month hiatus. On Aug. 17, Wednesday, the 18th issue of Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine revealed that manga artist, Yoichi Takahashi, 56, is putting his popular long-running manga on a break.
"Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun," which began serializing in Grand Jump since December 2013, will return in the magazine's 23rd issue, Anime News Network reported. It is slated to be published on Nov. 2.There is no word on why Yoichi Takahashi chose to put his latest manga on two-month hiatus.
"Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun" is said to be the latest and current story arc of the of the "Captain Tsubasa" franchise. It takes place after the Japanese group classified to the Olympics in Madrid.
The latest manga now concentrates on the Japanese team - Michelle Yamada, Taichi Nakanishi, Yuji Sakaki, Shingo Takasugi, Takeshi Kishida, Toshiya Okano, Nobuyuki Yumikura, Takashi Sugimoto, Shinnosuke Kazami, Kotaro Furukawa's - quest to win the gold medal at the Madrid Olympics.
Apart from that, the plot seemingly focuses more on Captain Tsubasa Oozora, whose name literally translates to "Big Sky Wings," relationship with his colleagues, contention with rivals and the competition-activity-result of every football match.
The "Captain Tsubasa" franchise received critical acclaim for its dynamic football moves. It also inspired the prominent footballers - Fernando Torres, Hidetoshi Nakata, Andres Iniesta and Alexis Sanchez - to choose football as a career.
The original manga was then later adapted into an animated television series, dubbed "Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002." The 52-episode anime series has also been extremely prevalent in Japan, having ranked forty-ninth in Animage's "Top 100 anime productions list."
