Fans have been shown an impressive gameplay trailer of the newest "God Of War" title for the Playstation 4 during Sony's E3 press conference, but how different is it compared to "God of War 3," or any of its predecessors?

"God of War" fans and gamers everywhere have been pleasantly stunned with the surprise announcement of the game during E3.

The gameplay demo trailer, which features an older, bearded Kratos and his son, showed a lot of features which are distinctively different from the usual "God of War" fans are used to. The new game is different, yet still feels strangely familiar.

The most noticeable change in the game is the camera angle, which reminds people of the camera angle used in the new "Tomb Raider" games.

The new title also introduces us to a tamer, more gentle Kratos, and from what the new gameplay trailer has shown so far, the action is more action RPG and less hack and slash compared to the previous titles.

Although this might still change, and the action might pick up later in the game.

The "God of War" PS4 version also features a few more RPG elements like skill upgrades and levelling, such as when Kratos showed his son how to hold a bow during the trailer.

The biggest change, however, is the story flow of the game. Writing on the Playstation Blog after E3, Sony Santa Monica's Cory Barlog explained why there are some huge changes in the storytelling in the new "God of War."

"I knew I didn't want to simply reboot the franchise, starting over with a retelling of the origin story," Barlog explained.

"I wanted to reimagine the gameplay, give players a fresh perspective and a new tactile experience," he went on, "while delving deeper into the emotional journey of Kratos to explore the compelling drama that unfolds when an immortal demigod makes a decision to change."

Barlog said that the retelling of Kratos' story is a huge challenge for the team, but at the same time a fulfilling journey towards the new beginning of "God of War."
