It looks like some of the characters from the "Assassin's Creed" franchise might just make it to the game after all.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, production armorer Tim Wildgoose, who has crafted some of the iconic weapons used in the upcoming "Assassin's Creed" film, said that there will be some characters in the "Assassin's Creed" games that will be featured in the movie.
"There's basically a few assassins taken straight from the games, who we get to see in the films," Wildgoose confirmed. "We actually get to use some of the real game weapons in there."
However, fans should not hold their breath for a main character from the game, like Ezio or Altaïr, to appear in the movie adaptation.
"They're not main characters from the games," the armorer told Entertainment Weekly, "but they're very famous characters that the fans will probably enjoy."
Wildgoose has not elaborated on the subject, and has not specified which in-game assassin will make its appearance in the much anticipated movie.
Lead actor and executive producer Michael Fassbender, who starred in the action packed movie "X-Men: Apocalypse," confirmed in a previous statement that the team wanted to strike a balance between bringing "Assassins' Creed" game elements into the film and making its story unique.
"You know, we absolutely want to respect the game," Fassbender told IGN in 2014. "There's so much cool stuff in the game that we're actually spoiled for choice in terms of what we can use and what we can't."
"But we also want to bring new elements to it and perhaps our own version of things that already exist in the game." Fassbender added.
Fassbender will be taking the role of Callum Lynch and his assassin ancestor Aguilar in the movie, and will be joined by other top notch actors such as Marion Cottilard as Sophia Rikkin and Jeremy Irons as Abstergo CEO Alan Rikkin.
The "Assassin's Creed" movie will have its theatrical release on December 21.
