There are tons of tips, tricks, and even cheats for playing 'Pokémon GO." Unfortunately, not a lot of them work all the time and most cheats gets detected eventually. Fortunately, there's the incense which can make trainers lives' easier.

Incense is one crucial item in being a successful trainer and for hunting pokémon. Its importance has been given more significance especially with the absence of the step locator, which Niantic removed for unclear reasons.

Incense, however, isn't as rife as normal pokéballs and lures. It is not even easy to come by.

Using it carelessly will yield less satisfying results so be sure to use it when the time is right, or you can force it to be.

One trick is to restart your "Pokémon GO" app especially if you don't see any nearby. The best way to do this is to use the incense outside. It is also a good idea to go as far as possible from places where pokémon appears to maximize its effect.

Using it at home can work, but not as intended. In a lot of guides and player experiences, Incense spawns 1 pokémon per five minutes while stationary. However, it spawns a pokémon every 200 meters while moving.

This attracts tons of pokémon and even rare ones that do not even normally appear in the specific area that players will roam around for a while, as per redditor's claims for the August update.

Combine this method with the Lucky Egg item to boost experience faster. Not only that, this gets trainers find and catch pokémon easier, it also makes leveling up easier and faster. Higher levels means better catches.

If going out isn't really an option for some players, there are some workarounds that still work, but be aware that improper use of such tools can lead to getting banned. Following instructions provided properly is highly advised.
