The latest NBA trade rumors hinted that the Los Angeles Lakers might trade this year's No.2 NBA Draft pick Brandon Ingram with the Oklahoma City Thunder's point guard Russell Westbrook in order to boost their roster.

Morning News USA reported that Ingram is yet to sign a contract with the Lakers team, which has a paved way for the trade rumors. According to The Vertical's front office insider Bobby Marks, the 18-year-old from the Los Angeles team and Domantas Sabonis from OKC Thunder are the only rookies, who are yet to seal the deal with their respective teams.

Furthermore, Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders reported that the Lakers want to rebuild their roster before the start of the upcoming NBA season. "The Lakers has held off on signing Tarik Black, Marcelo Huertas and second-overall pick Brandon Ingram, keeping an eye on what could be $13.6 million in cap room assuming the team also waives and stretched Nick Young," wrote Pincus, as reported by Basketball Insiders. "The Lakers do have an unnamed trade target in mind, but are also preserving space for another opportunistic Calderon-like deal."

It is stated that Westbrook will be a perfect fit for the Los Angeles Lakers as he has the capability to win many matches by teaming up with other talented players like D'Angelo Russell, Nick Young, and Jordan Clarkson.

Even the OKC Thunder might think of trading Westbrook to the Lakers in order to avoid another Kevin Durant-like situation. Norman Transcript reported that teaming up with the Lakers will be beneficial for the Thunder as they will get few equally talented players in exchange for their 27-year-old point guard. The main reason behind this stated to be that Westbrook will be a free agent next summer and then the team will not get anything in return for his trade.

However, few reports stated that the OKC team is planning to extend Russell Westbrook's contract as he is their valuable asset. Westbrook has not yet confirmed anything whether he will sign a deal with the Thunder or opt for some other team.
