The latest Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 rumors hinted that the device will be released as a smartphone specially designed and manufactured for the business class.

According to Microsoft's Corporate Vice President Kevin Gallo, the technology giant is currently working on the handset with the enterprise sector in mind, reported Tech Times. Gallo also stated that the previous installments of the Microsoft smartphones did not do well in the market, hence, the company has decided to drift away from the consumer sector.

It is expected that the new Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 will help the company to revive from the losses incurred from the earlier strategy of developing a smartphone at affordable costs for the consumer, reported The Register.

"We're really aligned to what we've done on the Windows desktop," said Gallo, as reported by the publication. "We'll lead with some high end and category innovation like we've done with Surface and OEMs will go and build the breadth of the catalog."

Apart from the sector-based rumors, few reports claimed that the release date of the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 will be happening in spring 2017. However, the company has not officially confirmed anything related to the device yet. It is rumored that the technology giant is planning to release three variants with superior hardware configurations, which is reported to have prompted the delay in the release date of the phone.

The Bit Bag reported that the base variant of the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 3 GB RAM. Also, rumors hinted that the high-end variant is expected to feature a huge 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

Meanwhile, there are other reports claiming that one of the versions of the Microsoft Surface phone will consist of an Intel Atom X3 Processor. All the variants are anticipated to be launched with aluminum and magnesium casing with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display. The smartphone will also feature a USB Type-C port and liquid cooling technology.

Additionally, the upcoming Surface Phone is expected to sport a 20-megapixel Carl Zeiss rear camera for excellent pictures. The device will also consist of some extra features like Surface Pen functionality, fingerprint reader, accelerometer, gyro, compass, barometer, and proximity sensors.

The Microsoft Surface Camera 2016 is rumored to be priced from $700 to $1100, depending on the variant its respective specs.
