The Samsung Gear Fit 2 vs Microsoft Band 2 "war" is turning out to be an interesting one, as both fitness gadgets are demonstrating that they are at par - or almost - with each other.
Depending on whose side you're on, the two devices have shown that they can deliver the goods in terms of performance.
However, with all things being equal, the Samsung wearable may have an edge over its Microsoft rival, according to Wearable.
For starters, the Gear Fit 2 has a larger screen that's slightly more vibrant than the Band 2, as the former's LCD display measures 32 x 216 at 1.5-inches, while the latter is only 320 x 128 at 1.36-inches.
In this area of the Samsung Gear Fit 2 vs Microsoft Band 2 battle, the former wins.
For those who are concerned with comfort, the Fit 2 is a bit lighter around the wrist than the Band 2, although neither of the two are spectacularly eye-catching.
Some users also noted the Band 2 has a more rubbery feeling when worn as compared to the smoother touch on the Gear, giving the latter an advantage on this aspect.
On the other hand, The Microsoft Band 2 is equipped with 10 sensors which include an optical heart rate, three-axis accelerometer, gyrometer, GPS, ambient light sensor, skin temperature sensor, UV sensor, capacitive sensor, a galvanic skin response sensor and barometer.
For its part, the Samsung Gear Fit 2 only has a heart rate monitor, GPS, barometer, accelerometer, and gyrometer.
It is worth noting that although both devices are capable of delivering good data, the Gear Fit 2 Health feature enables users to add in points of interest on the wrist which they can later view in the app.
In the meantime, ZDNet lauded the Microsoft Band 2 for being a solid device that is reasonably priced $175 and works well with iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
However, the tech site noted that the Band 2 is not as comfortable or as compact as the Samsung Gear Fit 2.
The tech reviewer also praised the Gear Fit 2 for its stunning display, more useful information on the device, and ability to enjoy music during a workout, giving an indication which is winning the Samsung Gear Fit 2 vs Microsoft Band 2 battle.
