A hot Internet debate is in progress regarding next generating gaming consoles. What will they look like? How powerful will hardware specs be? What will be the release date? Will controller be all the same or something new with refreshed design? And nothing has generated more buzz now than Sony PlayStation 4 Orbis.

The next generating gaming consoles are a mystery. But breaking the ice, IGN has leaked information about the much rumored Sony Playstation 4. The Web site has not revealed anything about the sources though.

Sony's next generation gaming console could be officially called "Orbis", instead of Playstation 4 or PS4.

According to the report, Playstation 4 will be powered by custom AMD A8 3850 quad-core processor clocked at 2.9 GHz with integrated graphics. Offering combined performance of both integrated and discrete graphics, PS4 can pack Radeon HD 7670 GPU. Radeon HD 7670 is a modified version of Radeon HD 6670 GPU, which is expected to be featured in Microsoft's next generation gaming console - Xbox 720. The DirectX 11 enabled, Radeon HD 7670 will be clocked at 1 GHz with 1GB of dedicated VRAM. The GPU will be capable of running games at a resolution of 4096 X 2160 pixels. Currently, Sony Playstation 3 runs 3D games at 720p resolution. The next generation Playstation will run 3D games in 1080p. It will support HDMI 1.4a output and 4k output.

The new console will use advance security mechanism to detect duplicate game Blu-Ray discs. Rumors are high that game developers have started working on titles for next generation gaming consoles. At the time of debut, there will be over a dozen gaming titles available on the platform. However, the new gaming console may not be backward compatible with PS3.

Coming to controller section, PS2 and PS3 use almost same game controller. It is expected that Sony will release an upgraded version of its DualShock controller. But the design could be somewhat identical.

The new gaming console is already in development and is anticipated for Winter 2013 release.
