The Windows 10 anniversary update will be rolled out in phases as confirmed by Windows Program Chief Dona Sarkar. She said that the update will be released to customers based on their device types and specifications.
"We'll start with PC and phone, and it's going to be a global rollout," said Sarkar, as reported by Digital Trends. "It's going to take time. Everyone's going to freak out wondering as it's going to take a little while to roll out to everybody. Xbox and HoloLens, those come at different times since the end device is just separate."
The chief officer also stated that the upcoming Windows 10 anniversary update will provide users with new cool features in their operating system. Tech Republic reported that the latest update will feature Microsoft Edge browser's improvements and new extensions like AdBlock, LastPass, Microsoft Translator, and Evernote.
Furthermore, there are reports that the Start Menu will receive many changes like a new theme, design and application shortcuts on the right. IT Business Edge reported that Microsoft Windows virtual assistant Cortana is expected to receive many improvements via the upcoming anniversary update.
It is stated that Cortana will provide voice-control assistance, which will help the users to remotely lock Windows 10 screen, make notes, play music or set reminders without the need to unlock their PC.
Moreover, users will have more control over the automatic reboots of their device with the help of the latest Windows 10 anniversary update. Windows Report stated that the Active Hours feature will allow users to set the hours of work during the day time. This will prevent the Windows 10 OS to automatically reboot the system in order to install an update.
In addition, the Windows program chief also admitted that the release date of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update has been set for August 2.
