Shutterbugs who are still undecided on getting the recently upgraded Canon 80D should be convinced by the review of users who attest to the DSLR's versatility and above average performance.

Since the release of its neophyte version three years ago, the mid-range 80D has remained the go-to camera of hobbyists and enthusiasts who want to shoot high-quality video and stills.

Although pros would most likely prefer the higher end models, the latest D80 model still stands out due to the recent upgrades it has received, which include its increased megapixel count, improved video quality, and an enhanced autofocus system, according to Digital Trends.

The Canon 80D has kept the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system of its predecessor, but has been enhanced to provide greater speed and better tracking, the review noted.

The camera is also equipped with the Canon EF mount, which makes it compatible with close to 100 lenses designed for the EOS system.

Moreover, the 80D sports a vari-angle touchscreen LCD, which enables shooters to hold the camera at a variety of creative angles, wherein you can use your finger to choose a specific focus point.

It is likewise equipped with an LCD on the top deck to quickly check or change camera settings, while the key controls for white balance, ISO and burst rate can be easily accessed.

The 80D's DPS-C CMOS sensor resolution has also been jacked up to 24.2 megapixels as compared to the 20.2 of its earlier model, the review pointed out.

Although the burst rate (7 frames per second) and shutter speeds (1/8,000 to 30 seconds) of the DSLR have remained unchanged, its ISO range has increased to 100-16,000 for stills, versus 100-12,800 of its older version.

In the meantime, PC Magazine noted that the 80D has been the choice for photographers who want to move up from the consumer-friendly Rebel line but can't still upgrade to the pricey 7D Mark II.

According to the magazine review, the Canon 80D is a major improvement over the 70D, and is "an appealing choice for photographers who feel that a model that's on the higher-end of entry-level like Canon's T6s."
