The latest update on the return of world champion Randy Orton suggested that his comeback at next Tuesday's WWE Smackdown is still not on the cards.
The WWE website announced that Orton will instead be seen on the "Highlight Reel" talk show during the WWE Battleground event on July 24. To be reportedly interviewed by Chris Jericho on the show, he is expected to reveal some details about his upcoming match with the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar and also throw some light on his future WWE career plans.
"Will The Viper be able to compete at 100 percent following a recovery that has been thus far shrouded in mystery?" teased WWE site, as reported by Wrestling Inc. "How aggressively will he scout Lesnar during his return to the Octagon? And can the master of the RKO manage to defeat The Beast in what is now unmistakably the peak of his second prime?"
Back in October 2015, Orton faced a severe shoulder injury during his Summerslam match, which kept him away from the WWE ring for about nine months. Fox Sports reported his return match is expected to be the biggest show of the year, as both Lesnar and Orton are still among the top names in the industry.
Some reports teased that the 12-time world champion might lose in his return match to Brock, who is currently on the top of his game. The main reason behind this is assumed to be Randy's injury, which might put him in a vulnerable state.
Moreover, the upcoming match might be Orton's last WWE Summerslam fight. Forbes reported that he might even think of transitioning into a part-time wrestler for the rest of his career, after his probable defeat to the Beast Incarnate. It is also stated that Randy may also opt for training young talents on the roster and provide them with quality guidance to win WWE matches.
Randy Orton is expected to fight Brock Lesnar on August 21 at the WWE Summerslam event in Brooklyn, New York.
