Could it be true that George Clooney abandoned his wife Amal Alamuddin because he was busy with work?

Is the couple heading for divorce because of a recent incident?

After the several pregnancy rumors thrown at her, the latest buzz suggested that the 38-year-old international human rights lawyer might have experienced a blow following her 55-year-old husband's alleged refusal to accompany her in one of her trips.

According to the latest issue of the "National Enquirer" magazine, as shared by Gossip Cop, George Clooney reportedly "refused" to join his wife Amal Alamuddin in going to Maldives to release ex-President Mohammed Nasheed in September.

An unidentified source narrated that the British-Lebanese attorney asked him to protect her from "bloodthirsty terrorists."

"George refused, which devastated Amal," the source said.

However, amid this claim, Gossip Cop pointed out that there is no truth to the allegation.

"We're exclusively told Clooney was busy working during the time that his wife traveled to Maldives, and she never asked to be chaperoned in the first place," the entertainment site stated.

Gossip Cop continued to reveal that George Clooney has always been a caring husband to Amal Alamuddin. In fact, he even shared at the premiere of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" how worried he was about his wife's trip.

In the meantime, the couple appeared to have debunked the unending divorce speculations after they were spotted outside of the Il Gatto Nero restaurant in Lake Como, Italy, Just Jared reported.

The lawyer looked gorgeous in a knee-length black dress paired with black stilettos. The actor, on the other hand, wore a black button-down shirt and grey trousers.

The actor currently stars in the movie "Money Monster" which talks about the experience of financial TV host Lee Gates and his producer Patty when an investor took over their studio.

During their dinner date, George Clooney and his wife Amal Alamuddin were accompanied by some of his friends. The two, however, remain mum about the issue.
