The highly anticipated Apple Watch 2 has been rumored to come out later this year, but the exact date is not yet known. This has led to speculations about the release date and possible specifications of the smartwatch.
According to the latest reports, Apple might be adding a camera feature on the next generation Apple Watch.
"The camera can be disposed on the front surface of Apple Watch face to capture images of the user," reported Patently Apple.
Although Apple analyst Brian White, of Wall Street firm Drexel Hamilton, has speculated that the latest model would be "20 to 40 percent slimmer", yet a contrasting report by Ming Chi-Kuo, who is renowned for his accuracy, says fans should not expect a big design overhaul.
On the hardware side, one of the biggest additions could be the inclusion of a FaceTime Camera. According to 9 to 5 Mac, a small camera capable of recording video could be embedded into the top bezel, allowing wearers to answer calls from their wrists.
Users, who do not connect their iPhone with the Apple Watch, would be able to receive messages away from a wi-fi connection, without pairing with the iPhone. However, they will need to pay for a data plan.
The battery might also be improved, as the newest Apple Watch is rumored to have a thinner display in order to accommodate a larger battery.
Meanwhile, reports suggested that new fitness tracking and apps have also been introduced in addition to an emergency feature. When users hold down the side button for a few seconds, the linked iPhone will be prompted to call the emergency services.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from Apple about the specifications or the release date. However, chances are there that the announcement will be made soon.
