"Orphan Black" season 5 will reportedly be the last after reports surfaced that the series will come to its end. What could be the reason behind the sad news?
BBC confirmed the news, noted The Mary Sue. Showrunners John Fawcett and Graeme Manson explained to the audience that the show was not canceled but it was essentially ended.
"We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters," they stated. "The past four seasons have been a phenomenal adventure and we are eternally grateful to our loyal fans who have loved the twists and thrills of our weird little show."
"We are thankful to our partners at Temple Street, and to BBC America and Space for their support and giving us the opportunity to end on a high," both of them concluded.
The website believed that it is the best for the show as well. The outlet also added that "Orphan Black" lead star Tatiana Maslany deserves an Emmy award for her portrayal of the clones.
The show creators also told The Hollywood Reporter that they are already planning the Season 5 to end with a strong point. Although they did not provide any concrete details about the plot, it is still undecided whether they will have a time skip or not.
But nonetheless, the production team are already brainstorming on how to execute the fifth season. "We always had our concept, yes. It was loose enough, but also specific enough that we felt like we knew where we were going," as quoted.
On the other hand, Cinema Blend reported that the upcoming season might be out in April next year. Season 4 just ended on June 16 and left the viewers with a major cliffhanger.
