Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" may be thrilled to learn that Nina Dobrev might return on Season 8. However, she will come back as Katherine and not as Elena.

Series Creator Julie Plec reportedly told TV Line that the fan favorite would appear on Season 7 finale. "So I'm sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end," Plec said.

"Obviously, things can change throughout time, if the show goes on longer than we expect it to, or if we all collectively decide it would be fun to bring her back earlier, and she wanted to," the showrunner added. "But in my opinion, she was very clear about what she wanted the next step in her life to be, and she's doing a great job of achieving that," as concluded.

Parent Herald also noted that the series has been giving away noticeable clues about her return. She did a short voiceover for the season 6 finale. However, it is still unclear if she will return as Elena or as Katherine.

But fans are hopeful that she will come back as Elena so she can finally reunite with Ian Somerhalder and save his character, Damon Salvatore, from a possible killing spree.

On the other hand, TV Guide Damon might remain being enslaved by a "nameless evil." Then it must be interesting to know more if Elena will be back for good. In other "The Vampire Diaries" news, Kat Graham, who plays as Bonnie Bennett, allegedly said that's she's not contented with her character's superpowers.

According to Fox News, Bonnie Bennett would have to save Damon and Enzo by any means against the Nameless Evil despite being vulnerable.

"I mean, we all have something different within us that makes us powerful, and I don't think it's external," Graham said. "I believe we as human beings have much more power than we give ourselves credit for."

This information might heighten the excitement of the viewers, but let us see what will happen when "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 finale and Season 8 air on television real soon.
