Apple has been releasing iPhones, iPads, and all sorts of accessories for their products for years now. But it can be observed that up till now, the only available accessory for their Apple Watch is its magnetic puck-with-cable charger that comes together with the watch if a user purchases one. But now, that will not be the case, as the tech company has now released their new Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock into some of their Apple Stores following a series of leaks online.
The magnetic charging dock doesn't come cheap though, as it sells at $79 USD or about £50 GBP or $110 AUD. The new Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock is also available online. The estimated shipping date will be this Friday, Nov. 20 around the same time other Apple retail stores would be able to stock it. Some stores, like the one in Berlin, have already gotten their hands on one.
This new dock comes with two modes which are "Nightside" mode and "Portrait" mode. The nightside mode is more versatile and allows the user to change how the watch button works. For example, using it as an alarm, the user can set the digital crown as the snooze button. On the other hand, the portrait mode allows the Apple Watch to lay flat on top of the dock. This function was not possible with the previous Apple Watch charger as it only forces the device to sit either downward or on its side in a surface
The new dock is round and is about the size of a CD. It has been designed to have the charging pad embedded in the center of the dock that can be flipped up if the user wants to charge their Apple Watch sideways. It also comes with a USB cable but will not come with a power adaptor included. News about the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock has first appeared online through a video made by German YouTuber TouchBenny, who has bought his own charging dock for €89 EUR in Apple's Berlin Store and posted his findings and reviews about the product.
