Facebook on its quest to topple off and continue dominating over its other competitors has been making a couple of changes recently. Today is not an exception. Facebook has just launched its new search FYI feature making all public posts now searchable. This FYI feature is said to make 2 trillion posts it contained for the past years and will field 1.5 billion daily searches.

Facebook used to only allow users to post in their walls and other walls and that was the end of that. If one needs to check a public post made or a certain topic that's trending, one needs to manually search for it on different search engines or sites like Yahoo, Google or Twitter to name a few. But now, Facebook claims it made it all easy. But that doesn't stop there, the post you will be able to search are arranged hierarchically. Indexing the entire world's post or conversation is one way that Facebook can tell users what are trending or happening as of the moment.

The main goal for Facebook is to make it easier for anyone to learn or look for a certain topic being discussed or has been discussed as long as it was a public post. According to Facebook's product manager, Rousseau Kazi, the whole idea of this feature is to gather these posts or contents in a way that makes it easier to understand and get the full story of that certain topic. This search FYI feature is said to be a bit similar to a feature of Twitter.

This latest feature might be a threat for it encourages the users to stay put on Facebook and search the topic they wanted to find out about instead of going to the other sites like Yahoo, Google, and Twitter for instance. Still, it remains to be seen whether this feature will be approved and accepted by the public or not. In case you don't want to make your post searchable, make sure your settings are in private and all posts are set to be seen only by your friends.
