Though the new Apple Watch has not gotten great traction from the masses yet, Best Buy is currently partnering with Apple to have their Apple Watch line on their retail stores starting Aug. 7.
According to NBC News, Best Buy will open its 100 retail store slots for the Apple Watch and they will also open the ordering system for the device on their website, BestBuy.com. During the holidays, Best Buy will open another 200 store slots for the Apple Watch.
Apple Watch is gaining a little more attention from the public. Though the sales were not as high as Apple expected, Apple Watch's sales shot up in April.
Stephen Baker, analyst with the NPD group said Best Buy's move with the Apple Watch is a smart one. This decision also validates Best Buy's authority in electronics. Baker added that Best Buy is the top avenue to launch a tech product in the market.
Best Buy already has an advantage in marketing Apple products because more than half of their 1,400 retail stores already have an Apple stand inside. These mini-Apple stores are offering the most popular Apple devices such as the MacBook, iPad and iPhones.
The U.S. retailer giant also has other mini stores in their locations such as Sony and Samsung. They would not, however, divulge if Apple ranks on top of its competitors in sales. The company did report that Apple, Sony, LG, HP and Samsung amounted to about 47 percent of their total merchandise in 2014.
As Jason Bonfig, senior category officer of Best Buy stated, the new Apple Watch will be a huge contribution to the store's Apple offerings. Bonfig said he believes the customers would want to have the Apple Watch in Best Buy.
