The Google Nexus 5, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7 LTE are currently receiving an over-the-air (OTA) update to a new Android 4.4.1 KitKat version.
This new update is not expected to bring any major changes, but it reportedly includes a number of improvements and bug fixes.
Just a couple of days ago we reported that Android 4.4.1 was spotted, and it now turns out that the leak was accurate. Google is already rolling out the new KitKat version for its latest Nexus 5 smartphone, as well as the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 LTE.
While the update will bring improvements and various fixes to all three devices, it will bring something extra to the Nexus 5. The new Nexus flagship smartphone will get some camera improvements in addition to the usual bug fixes and enhancements.
The update is currently rolling out via OTA, which means that it may take some time to reach all devices. Google has also offered separate download packages for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 LTE. These packages are an alternative for those who want to flash the latest build. Keep in mind, however, that you need to have Android 4.4 KitKat KRT16S up and running in order to get the download package.
If you choose to go with the download package, you can find the Android 4.4.1 update for the Nexus 4 here, while the update for the Nexus 7 LTE is available at this link.
The OTA update should roll out in within the next few days to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 7 LTE. If you haven't received the notification yet, you can manually check for the update from the device's Settings menu.
It remains unclear at this point when this new version of KitKat will roll out to more Nexus devices or Google Play Edition handsets. With the rollout already started, however, it shouldn't be long before it becomes available for more devices. If you have already received the new Android 4.4.1, let us know how it fares in the comment section below.
