The Spectrum 2 by LG is a solid smartphone with some very impressive specs. The phone features a 4.7-inch IPS (In- plane switching) 1280 x 720 True HD display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 16GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, full 1080p HD video recording, microSD slot with support for up to 32GB cards, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE radio, 1,830 mAh removable battery, NFC and wireless charging out of the box.
LetsTalk is currently offering the Verizon Spectrum 2 by LG for free with a new two-year contract. Verizon is currently offering the Spectrum 2 for $80 with a new two-year contract online and in its retail stores. The price of "free" is a much better deal, especially considering that LG packed in some features found on flagship smartphones.
LG is a company known for its expertise in creating some of the world's best displays. When LG designed the Spectrum 2 it wanted to showcase its 4.7-inch True HD IPS display. The display is bright and vivid, and texts and icons look crisp and clear. It also has the same screen as the LG Optimus 4X HD, with the same 1280 x 720 resolution. It's perfect for watching movies, surfing the web, gaming and more.
While the Spectrum 2 ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich it is expected to receive an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in the near future. The Spectrum 2 has LG's custom user interface for Android, Optimus UI 3.0. LG has also included its very popular, signature note-taking app service, QuickMemo with the Spectrum 2. What's cool about QuickMemo is that it's a system-wide note taking service that lets users quickly annotate screenshots with handwritten notes and sketches. The annotated screenshots can then be shared, either by email or MMS or by posting to services like Twitter and Facebook through LG's Social+ interface.
LG added two major features to the Spectrum 2 that are mostly found in high-end smartphones, NFC and wireless charging out of the box. Once you try wireless charging you'll never want to charge your smartphone any other way. The Spectrum 2 runs on Verizon's 4G LTE network, providing extremely fast Web browsing, downloads and uploads. It's also great for travelers as it is a Verizon Global Ready smartphone, which means you'll be able to use the smartphone in over 200 countries by inserting a SIM card when traveling.
All of these features add up to make the Spectrum 2 a very attractive smartphone and, best of all, it's free.
