The rumored Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini could arrive as soon as Oct. 11, as the German arm of the South Korean electronics giant has sent out invites to an event at which it is expected to unveil the device.

The event will take place in Berlin, Germany, at the same location where Samsung recently unveiled its Galaxy Note 2.

"Something big can be small. And something small can be really big," roughly translates the invitation written in German. "Get ready for a little sensation," it adds. The invites, as reported by UnwiredView, are also adorned with the company's signature S logo that accompanies all Samsung Galaxy devices. All signs indicate that Samsung is preparing to unveil a small Galaxy device.

The text of the invite also resembles the phrase Samsung used for the Samsung Galaxy S3: "the next big thing is already here." Meanwhile, last year the company teased the Galaxy Nexus with the phrase "something big is coming."

Rumors of a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini have been making the rounds for a few months, and several sources are pointing to an imminent unveiling. Dutch Web site GSM Helpdesk, for instance, reported on Sept. 30 that the Galaxy S3 Mini would make its debut by the end of the year, in time for the holiday shopping season.

The device itself will presumably feature a 4-inch 800 x 480 display, not so "Mini" but nonetheless smaller than the Galaxy S3. The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini will reportedly pack a dual-core processor under the hood, and sport a 5-megapixel camera. The handset is also expected to run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Launching a Galaxy S3 Mini would make sense for Samsung. Its flagship Galaxy S3 is a powerful smartphone and one of the best Android smartphones currently available on the market, but its massive 4.8-inch display is too big for some. If the company decides to offer a smaller version of its flagship it would appeal to more consumers, boosting sales even further.

Samsung has not commented on this rumor and no details on pricing or availability are available for now. The Galaxy S3 Mini is still in the rumor state, but the distinctive S logo can be seen clearly on the invite. Even if it is not an S3 Mini, that logo indicates that Samsung will unveil a new Galaxy device on Oct. 11.
