Nintendo NES Classic Edition Stock News: COO Reggie Fils-Aime Explains The Situation
Hemal VoraThe NES classic edition stock has been a problem for Nintendo. The Nintendo NES Mini classic console went out of stock in its first as well as second shipment. The second shipment arrived at the time of Christmas and it was expected to meet the increasing customer demand at least this time. However, even during the Christmas sale, the gaming giant failed to meet the customer demand and provide sufficient NES classic edition stocks.
Nintendo Fails to Meet Christmas Sale Demands
Had the consoles been available a number of customers would have bought it even for a higher price, as Christmas presents to their loved ones. This being the case, the NES classic editions were being sold for $200 by resellers. The non-availability of the NES Mini Classic stocks will have a great impact on the company's financials. It could have achieved higher revenues if they had manufactured the consoles in more numbers, as reported by Dailystar.
Reggie Fils-Aime Explains Stock Overrun
While these concerns are on one side, recent reports from the Nintendo Switch console announcement reveal that Nintendo itself was unaware of the fact that there would be such a high demand for the NES Mini console. According to Reggie Fils-Aime the COO of Nintendo US, the NES classic edition stock overrun was an unanticipated scenario even for Nintendo.
Players Come Back To Nintendo Again And Again
He further explained that the company targeted players in the age group 30 years to 40 years who would have played the NES Classic titles when they were 10 years old or so. This being the assumption, the company expected that the demand for the retro-console will not be huge, as reported by BGR.
He also added that they felt players who already owned the original Super Mario Bros in the Wii or Wii U may not go for the NES Classic one more time for the same games. However, this was proven false by the loyal fans of the Nintendo consoles. Reggie Fils-Aime also said that the good news about the NES classic is that with the increasing demand, the company is also increasing the supply of the consoles.
The NES Mini console comes with 30 in-built retro titles such as the original Super Mario Bros, Mega Man 2, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania, and others.
