The Night Before: Samsung’s Latest Gear VR Experience Lets You Hitch A Ride With Santa
Rei LantionIn the true spirit of Christmas, Samsung takes you on a magical sleigh-bell-filled ride with the man of the hour himself via Gear VR.
Their newest virtual reality experience, The Night Before, combines festivity and fun as the user gets to witness Christmas Eve from Santa's perspective. You get three and a half minutes of tinsel-colored fun as you join Santa and the elves in the workshop for Christmas prep, gearing up for a night of hopping rooftops and delivering gifts.
For those who've always dreamed of taking a ride in that magical sleigh, now's as good a time as any to check that off your bucket list. You can sit yourself in front of your computer and pan the camera around or you can view it on your smartphone and spin around to get the full 360 experience. But the easiest method, according to Android Headlines, is just connecting your Samsung Galaxy device to your Samsung Gear VR headset and immerse yourself in a rich, highly-vibrant virtual reality Christmas setup.
According to Phone Arena, The Night Before was initially made available earlier this month in select locations as a 4D VR program. For those without the Samsung Gear VR however, don't fret! The full Christmas joyride is now up on YouTube as a 360-degree video and can be enjoyed from the warmth and safety of your own home. The Night Before conceptualizes how a (Christmas) night out with Santa would be like. It does what many feel-good Christmas movies and Hallmark shows are not able to do, plop the main characters on a sled with good ol' Saint Nick and have the credits start rolling as the reindeer, the sled, and its precious cargo fly off into the night.
Thankfully, the game is interactive only in a sense that you can experience literally everything that happens around you; wormholes, outer space, downtown Manhattan --- the whole nine years. You do not have to go through an itemized checklist of children's names nor do you have to help Santa Claus should he ever get stuck down the chimney.
