As Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is nearing, iPhone 5 rumors are spreading like wildfire. However, the device is unlikely to debut at the June event.
The device has faced many leaks, especially with a purported design of the upcoming Apple smartphone showing an increase to the height of the device. Here are the top expected features, extracted from the iPhone 5 rumor mill, that are likely to be featured in the upcoming smartphone.
3D Maps
Apple is about to ditch Google Maps in iPhone 5, which will be the first Apple smartphone to run iOS 6. The company is believed to have developed its own maps solution with 3D Mode. The company is likely to reveal the 3D Maps app along with iOS 6 at the WWDC 2012 show. Folks at BGR have leaked screenshots of the new app.
4-inch Screen
Apple fanboys are yelling out at Apple to bump up the size of iPhone 5's display. And if the recent leaked images surfaced online, courtesy of 9to5Mac, are to be believed, then Apple iPhone 5 will feature a bigger display. Not a long time ago, reports surfaced online that Apple is testing two prototypes of iPhone 5 with 3.97-inch display with screen resolution of 1136 X 640 pixels.
A5X Variant with More RAM
Digging more into iPhone 5 features, 9to5Mac reports leaked some hardware details about the device. Reportedly, iPhone 5 prototype unit is running on ARM-S5L8950X processor, a model number higher than one found in iPhone 4S and new iPad. Other specs like clock speeds and GPU are not mentioned in the report, but it suggest inclusion of 1GB of RAM in the device.
Release Date
Rumors about June release date for iPhone 5 are on a hike. However, most of the analysts believed that the device will not show up until fall this year. Apple iPhone 5 is expected to debut around the same time Apple released iPhone 4S last year i.e. in September or October.
