Samsung apparently has a new smartphone series in the works and more detailed specs have now surfaced for the purported Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 handsets.
The South Korean device maker has never been too shy about flooding the market with all sorts of devices to suit as many tastes and budgets as possible, albeit more recent news suggested that Samsung will reduce the number of devices it launches in 2015.
Nevertheless, rumor has it that Samsung is gearing up to launch a new Galaxy E series next year, and now more information has surfaced. According to a new report from SamMobile, the Galaxy E5 (SM-E500F) and Galaxy E7 (SM-E700F) will come with mid-range specifications on board, similar to their A Series counterparts - the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7.
The report claims that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy E7 will sport a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display of the HD variety, i.e. with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and pack a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor under the hood. As a reminder, the Snapdragon 410 is the low-end model of Qualcomm's new 64-bit line.
Other purported specs of the Samsung Galaxy E7 include 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory, and a 2,950 mAh battery to keep things up and running. On the software side, the handset will reportedly run the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. In terms of dimensions, the device will apparently measure 151 x 77 x 7.2 mm, which means it will be quite thin.
The Samsung Galaxy E5, meanwhile, will reportedly come with a smaller 5-inch Super AMOLED display with the same HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels), an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2,300 mAh battery. The rest of its specifications will be identical to those of the E7 model, i.e. a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional storage, and a 5-megapixel front shooter. This model will reportedly measure just 6.9 mm in thickness and weigh in at roughly 140 grams. On the software side, the Galaxy E5 will reportedly run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box as well.
"According to our insider, the E5 and E7 will come with non-removable batteries, though it remains to be seen whether that means they will have metal bodies," SamMobile further notes.
It remains unclear just when Samsung will officially take the wraps off these new devices, but an official unveiling may take place in the first months of 2015. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
