In 2014, the fourth season of Nickelodeons "The Legend of Korra" ended with both Korra and Asami going off on an adventure in the Spirit World. Now, a new sequel comic from Dark Horse will reveal what happened to the two as they return to Republic City.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Dark Horse's "The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars" will be "written by series co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino and illustrated by Irene Koh." "Turf Wars" will feature Korra and Asami, who must now figure out how to deal with the "chaos caused by the new portal - both in the Spirit World and back home in Republic City."
DiMartino told EW, "Korra has to figure out how to find a new balance in the city with all this stuff that's gone on." He continued, "It's gonna take place right after the finale, so it's focusing on Korra and Asami's relationship as a new threat emerges. It's kind of like the aftermath dealing with the new portal in the city, and all the evacuees coming back to find their homes wiped out because of the portal."
The exclusive preview from EW shows Korra and Asami in the Spirit World. The couple can be seen exploring the wonders of the magical land, and the two even take the time to go on a ride aboard a large bird-like creature. Korra and Asami can also be seen taking a dip on a large body of water and sharing a romantic picnic.
While the comics still didn't feature a kiss between Korra and Asami, the preview still gave "Legend of Korra" fans a glimpse into their budding relationship, per io9. Dark Horse's "The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars" will be released in June 2017.
Back in 2016, both DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko promised that the upcoming comics will focus on Asami and Korra's relationship. Since the last episode of "The Legend of Korra" Season 4 was rather subtle when it came to the relationship of the two girls, Konietzko clarified that they are indeed together romantically. He shared, "I love how their relationship arc took its time, through kindness and caring. If it seems out of the blue to you, I think a second viewing of the last two seasons would show that perhaps you were looking at it only through a hetero lens."
