It seems like movies about virtually anything are being made left and right. There's an upcoming Lisa Frank film based on illustrations on stickers and school supplies and an Emoji movie is in the works. Now, another adorable game-based movie called "Neko Atsume no Ie (The House of Cat Collection)" will allegedly air in April 2017.
According to io9, the latest trailer for "Neko Atsume no Ie" features a lot of the furry felines that the mobile game features. However, the trailer for the cat-filled movie is only available in Japanese. But cat-lovers will surely be able to see that despite the language barrier, "Neko Atsume no Ie" will have lots of cute cats for animal lovers to fawn over.
For those not familiar with the game, "Neko Atsume" is a "cat-collecting" mobile game for iOS and Android. The game was created in Hit-Point and was originally released in Japanese on October 20, 2014.
The game is simple, and players just purchase items such as food or toys to attract different cats in the game's garden. Gamers can take photos of the cats, and after certain requirements are met, the cats in "Neko Atsume" will leave gifts/mementos behind. On October 30, 2015, Hit-Point released an English version of the game called "Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector."
There are currently no plans to bring the "Neko Atsume no Ie" movie to American theaters, but CNET has revealed the movie's plot. The live-action movie adaptation of the game will focus on "a failed novelist" who moves to the countryside in the hopes of finding inspiration. One day, various cats start visiting the novelist's house.
Geek.com has revealed that "Neko Atsume no Ie" will star Tomoro Taguchi from the live-action movie "Gantz," Tae Kimura from the "Densha Otoko" live-action TV series as Yoko the pet shopkeeper, and Kayoko Okubo as a real estate agent.
