On Jan. 2, Blink announced a full do-it-yourself home security ecosystem supporting its Blink and Blink XT cameras, which fall under Blink's new ‘Seecurity' brand. People find this new product adorable and any burglars might be ashamed to move on with their not too adorable plans.
Blink Seecurity camera can warn the homeowners of a possible flooding with its water sensor feature, a keypad for system arming and disarming purposes, a 105-decibel siren, which has manual and motion triggers and entry sensors for windows and doors. According to the Verge, the camera also includes a battery-powered, hub-like Sync Module so when power and internet outages occur, it can connect to a 4G data network, which of course is not free. Sorry, folks.
Blink will start to bundle everything in kits and will also begin shipping in the Q2 of this year although homeowners can purchase products individually online. Yahoo reports that Blink Starter Seecurity Kit is at $339 for new customers, which includes a Blink camera, Blink XT camera, Sync Module, a siren, a keypad and two entry sensors while the Upgrade Seecurity Kit at $149 for existing customers that include Sync Module, two entry sensors, a siren and a keypad.
Blink's monthly service plans support a max of ten cameras where five cameras are included in the monthly fee and in the instance that you want to add another camera support, Blink said there is no additional cost. The $10 monthly plan is self-monitoring while the $20 monthly plan includes 24/7 third-party professional monitoring and both of these plans are month-to-month without a contract.
The plans include 4G data connection along with a battery backup for video and data including security hardware support for keypads, sirens, water sensors and motion sensors. Furthermore, Blink said that it has shipped more than 250,000 cameras in 2016 including its first weatherproof outdoor camera that costs $119 - the Blink XT.
