For those looking for a great DSLR to get this holiday season, there are tons of choices to choose from. In fact, the Canon 7D Mark II, despite its age, may still be a great choice even when compared with the newer cameras in its class.

While there has been some craze going on with 4K videos and Dual-Pixel sensors, the Canon 7D Mark II isn't letting up as it still has some punch to pack with its features.

Here's a quick look at its specs sheet;

20MP Dual-Pixel AF CMOS Sensor

10 fps continuous shooting with autofocus

65 all cross-type autofocus sensor

150,000 RGB + IR pixel metering sensor

Dual Digic 6 processors

Enhanced environmental sealing

Compact Flash (UDMA) and SD (UHS-I) slots

USB 3.0

Built-in GPS

Larger-capacity LP-E6N battery

Shutter speeds up to 1/8000th seconds

Shutter rated to 200,000 cycles (vs 150,000 on 7D)

The Canon 7D Mark II was released roughly two years ago and even with that fact, the camera is still a great performer for today's standard. The lack of a 4K video recording isn't really a deal-breaker even when getting the camera today as it would pretty much look like a novelty feature rather than a key factor when getting this camera for what it is really intended to do.

With a price tag of $1,499 on B&H Photo and Video, the camera is as good as it can get while the features that professionals and beginners are more than adequate.

Based from a Snapsort, the only better cameras above it would only be EOS 5DS and the EOS 5DS R, which are both almost more than twice its price. However, even with this, the two cameras being better than the 7D Mark II is still subjective, especially with the features that it has and the lenses available for it.

The best thing about the 7D Mark II is that it still being supported by Canon and is still getting its regular updates. For those looking to upgrade, the Canon 7D Mark II would be one of the best, if not the wisest choice around.
