Popular subscription-based streaming platform Hulu has recently announced that they have obtained exclusive broadcast rights to "The Powerpuff Girls."
The Emmy-nominated franchise, with both the classic Cartoon Network run and rebooted series, will be available for streaming on Hulu's website and on their apps across iOS, Android, Xbox, PlayStation and Apple TV devices.
Furthermore, Hulu also launched a collection of the series' specials and fan favorite episodes in a package called "Best Friends Forever" - including "The Powerpuff Girls" 10th Anniversary and holiday special.
The ongoing first season of the reboot series will be also included in Hulu's library, with latest episodes available immediately after its TV premiere in Cartoon Network.
Meanwhile, the platform will simulcast "The Powerpuff Girls'" upcoming second season in 2017. There is not much information on the series' next season, however, probably due to the fact that the first season is still ongoing. It is also not clear how many episodes will be included in Season 2.
Celebrating its 18th year, the original "Powerpuff Girls" series premiered in Cartoon Network on November 18, 1998. The original broadcast contained 78 episodes across six seasons, and had its broadcast run until 2005.
The franchise has since then remained one of the network's most popular shows and has received several positive reviews, nominations and awards like the Emmys, Annie Awards and a Kids' Choice Award.
The original series featured Cathy Cadavini, Tara Strong and E.G. Daily as Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup respectively.
Cartoon Network rebooted the show and was premiered on April 4, 2016, with a new voice cast featuring Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li and Natalie Palamides. The reboot also features a new storyline. Craig McCracken, the original series' creator, writer and director, did not reprise his role in the rebooted series, however.
The highly popular franchise that has attracted more than 81 million viewers worldwide has since spawned numerous video games, toys, comic books and other merchandise, Cartoon Network assured that "The Powerpuff Girls" franchise will have a lengthy return with a long life span.
