With the recent news of Samsung officially pulling the plug for the Galaxy Note 7, consumers, especially those who had been long-time fans of the product line are in dismay. There may be no real alternatives for what the Note 7 has to offer, but here are some handsets that may actually provide a change of heart.
The Galaxy Note 7 is an exceptional phablet/phone and it is so feature-packed that matching it is quite a challenge, even for bigger names like Apple. Still, those considering getting it have no option now with the exception of risky second-hand units.
For those who still have it, safety may need to be the top priority, regardless of the small chance of any Note 7 exploding at any given time.
The Best Next Thing
For those who would really like to stick with the features that the Galaxy Note 7 has to offer, Samsung offers an exchange for a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge instead as well as a partial refund. If this isn't a viable option, getting the Note 6 might be the best option.
To see the clearer picture between the Note 7 and Note 5, Android Central has a nice spec sheet here, which shows their respective features.
While the Galaxy Note 7 blows the Galaxy Note 5 out of the water, this doesn't mean that the Note 5 will fail to come up as an alternative. It still has the same screen resolution and formidable camera to boot. Another important feature called the "S Pen" also available.
What it only lacks is the Note 7's faster processing speed, the water resistance, and the USB-C connector.
For those who wouldn't want to downgrade to the earlier released Note 5, there are other handsets, which may not be as feature-packed as the Note 7, but still possess functions and capabilities that make up for it.
One good option is the recently announced Google Pixel XL. It is slightly more expensive than the Note 7, but it has somewhat more powerful specifications that could outrun the Note 7.
