Sony Xperia XR vs Xperia Z5 Review: Specs, Features Comparison; Should You Wait For The Upcoming Device?
Dheeraj RChoosing between the Sony Xperia XR and the Xperia Z5 can be tough. The Japan-based company is expected to soon release the Xperia XR device, which has paved the way for the speculations of whether to wait for it or choose the available Xperia Z5 smartphone.
Below, we have compared the rumored specs of the Xperia XR, also codenamed as the Xperia F8331, to the Z5 device in order to provide you with a detailed overview of both the phones.
In terms of design, the upcoming Sony Xperia XR is expected to sport a metallic chassis with a fingerprint scanner on the side panel with the power button. On the other hand, the Xperia Z5 consists of a half metal and half glass body with more rounded panels at the top and bottom edge and is also slightly slimmer than the upcoming XR smartphone.
The Xperia XR is rumored to flaunt a 5.1-inch display and a Full HD resolution with a pixel density of 432ppi. It is also expected to consist of a pressure-sensitive display with VR compatibility. Whereas, the other Sony device features a 5.2-inch Full HD display and a pixel density of 424ppi with few extra technologies like the X-Reality.
As far as the performance-related specs are considered, the Xperia XR might consist of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, while the Z5 smartphone features a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage. The XR phone variant will also consist of a slightly stronger 3,000 mAh battery compared to Z5's 2900mAh battery.
Also, the Xperia XR is rumored to sport a 13-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front camera along with a 4K video recording capability. On the other hand, the Sony Xperia Z5 excels this area with a 23-megapixel rear coupled with a 5-megapixel front camera. It also consists of a LED flash with a sensitivity of 12,800 ISO and wide angle front lens.
Both the phones also differ in terms of software as the Sony Xperia Z5 runs on Android Lollipop OS while the Xperia XR is expected to sport the latest Android Nougat 7.0 operating system.
To sum up, both the Sony Xperia XR and the Xperia Z5 can be said to be nearly the same in terms of design, but if the company plans to include more new features to the former device, then it will surely become of more value over the latter phone.
