It was only a matter of time until "Naruto Shippuden" killed off one of the fans' favorite characters. As the battle against Princess Kaguya Otsutsuki continues, "Naruto Shippuden" episode 471 ended with Obito Uchiha sacrificing himself to spare Naruto and Kakashi's lives.

"Naruto Shippuden" episode 471, which was released on Aug. 11, Thursday, saw Princess Kaguya isolating Naruto and Sasuke at Black Zetsu's proposal. With this, the matriarch of the Ōtsutsuki clan assaulted the real Naruto, who uses Kokuo's chakra to upgrade his taijutsu.
Irked by Naruto's shadow clones, Kaguya chose to execute Naruto in spite of her desire to ingest his chakra. To do so, she shifted everyone to a high gravity dimension, where all clones began disappearing and everyone else is pinned down.
Kaguya then sprouted a greater amount of her All-Killing Ash Bones, aiming them both at Naruto and Sasuke, who fortunately evade them. As the menacing villain prepared to fire once more, both Kakashi and Obito run towards them.
Just when the two set themselves to die, they saw a vision of Rin and their younger selves holding each other's hands, according to Reddit. At the last moment, Obito used Kamui to send the bone going for Kakashi away, while he sacrificed himself.
"Naruto Shippuden" Episode 472 Spoilers
Early "Naruto Shippuden" spoilers are now out in Manga Reader. The next episode will start with the crumbling Obito imparting his final words to Kakashi and Naruto, expressing gratitude toward them for allowing him to recall who he used to be.
After telling Naruto to become Hokage, Obito finally disintegrates into a heap of ash, driving Black Zetsu to remark that Obito was a cockroach for lasting so long as opposed to a regular insect. Enraged, Naruto declared that he will become a Hokage and proceeded to fly up to Kaguya at an extreme speed.
Meanwhile, Obito ends up in the limbo between life and the afterlife. There, he sees Rin waiting for him and the two reconcile. "Naruto Shippuden" episode 472 is scheduled to air on Aug. 18.
