"We Happy Few" was finally made available for early access for both Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview Program. Early purchasers will find out the envelope of what Compulsion Games made available for them.

Before anything else, it is worth noting that the game is indeed in its early stages. While Destructoid reported that the game is "half-way" through, it is still arguable if it is beyond that point even.

The game's "story" starts out similarly as it was shown in this year's E3 last June. Players take the role of Arthur Hastings and your role is to erase bad news on newspapers and even on the town records. This was business as usual until Arthur finds a news about his brother.

We'll stop disclosing the story from here so that those who would want to experience the game first-hand will be able to do so by downloading the game from Steam Early Access or Xbox One Preview.

Some players or even reviews complained about the game's "lack of polish." Some important features were said to be missing and some mechanics like the input latency for controllers felt not optimized at the moment.

There's also a bit of an issue regarding the frame rate and the slightly slow loading times, especially for those who aren't using solid state hard drives yet for the PC.

While all these issues are still present, the game is still in its early stages. Players could highly expect a more polished "We Happy Few" sooner or later.

More importantly, developers have already integrated most of the major mechanics of the game, which players would likely enjoy, especially "Joy."

Arthur is a "Downer." A person who particularly refused to take his meds and gets to remember the bad things that had happened. In the game's settings, Downers are threats that needs to be hunted down and eliminated.

In order to move freely, Joy is extremely important. This will let the players actually mix in with the surroundings as they thread along. This is somewhat similar with "Assassin's Creed's" stealth system where players mix in with the people.

This is a very unique feature that we haven't seen in most survival games, but unfortunately this is where the early access reaches the envelope. No long narrative single player story yet.

"We Happy Few" is incomplete at this point, but here's to hoping that we'll get the full offering soon enough.
