Many consumers are torn in getting the Samsung Galaxy S7 or the Galaxy Note 7 as both are expected to be impressive smartphones.
An article from Forbes cited some of the most obvious reasons that the Galaxy Note 7 could be a better option for some who can stretch their budgets a bit more.
The first difference would be the display. It is widely rumored that the Galaxy Note 7 will have a slightly larger display dimension of 5.7-inches compared to Galaxy S7's 5.1-inches. This is expected with both series as it has always been with the previous models.
Image sharpness may be a deciding factor. Both the Galaxy Note 7 and the Galaxy S7 will sport the same Quad-HD resolution. Smaller screens mean higher density and less pixel.
However, it is not like anybody would stick their eyeballs at the screen to observe the difference between pixels, so this isn't a deal breaker with either of the two.
With the cameras concerned, rumors stated that the Galaxy Note 7 will have the same exact rear and front camera as the Galaxy S7. Both with a 12-megapixel rear snapper, a 5-megapixel front camera,a shallow aperture of f/1.7 and Dual Pixels technology. Nobody can go wrong with it. It is Samsung after all.
RAM, chipset and battery could easily be Note 7's advantage, especially if the rumors are spot on. The Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to have a 4,000-4,200mAh battery, 6GB RAM, and a newer Snapdragon 832. All one step ahead of the Galaxy S7.
With all these considered, the Galaxy Note 7 is basically a larger version of Galaxy S7 or even the S7 Edge, with slightly better specs. Aside from the price point, which is to be revealed soon, power users may be well off saving for Galaxy Note 7. The same cannot be said for those who already own S7 though (via GSMArena's stats).
Currently, these are the key potential differences between the two. As with Samsung's official launch date of the Galaxy Note 7 this coming August 2, consumers will learn more about the handset.
