Microsoft Office apps are now accessible in Android phones. Sydney Morning Herald, reports that Google Play Store launched a three-in-one MS Office app last Thursday, June 25.

The new trio MS Office app is free to use. Users should take note that a minimum of 1 GB RAM and an Android 4.4 Kitkat is required to run this app on their smartphones.

Users can open, edit and save any Word, PowerPoint or Excel files on mobile for free and a small subscription fee if they wish to access the desktop version. Office 365 subscribers can use the app in exchange for an annual payment fee of $89 US. This subscription is only applicable to Mac or PC Office software, one phone and one tablet device per usage.

In an interview with CNet.com, Ebun Onagoruwa, Product Manager of Microsoft, said that, "The goal of these apps is to make sure that as people think about working, creating and doing, they think of Office as the default."

He goes on to say that, "transforming [Office] from a software suite into a platform that would work across devices [was the objective behind the manufacture of MS Office apps]."

The upcoming Microsoft Office apps were made accessible to Android tablets since February and the smartphone usability of these apps was previewed in May, earlier this year.

The three-in-one Microsoft Office apps should be of great help to busy professionals, both personally and professionally. These apps help users seamlessly transition to and from personal and professional tasks, in one device only.
