Apple to Launch Vision Pro Training Seminars for Retail Employees

Dec 11, 2023 09:50 AM EST

According to recent reports, Apple is gearing up for the launch of Vision Pro in early 2024. Training sessions for retail workers have commenced, with Apple organizing two-day training programs for select employees.

These sessions involve sending a few individuals from each U.S.-based Apple Store to California for training, who will subsequently educate the rest of their store teams upon return.

Additionally, Apple equips its retail stores with the necessary tools to manage Vision Pro once it's officially released.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman highlighted these preparations in his recent Power On newsletter.

Apple Vision Pro Set to Launch Early 2024

The upcoming sessions, set for mid-January, would last two days for each worker. Apple emphasized the importance of these lessons because the Vision Pro is not easy to set up.

Customizing for every person is crucial because it could ruin the experience big time if it doesn't fit right. Every little thing, from how employees talk to customers to how they put the device on them, would be planned perfectly.

They will also be getting new gear at the Apple Stores to build and package the Vision Pro sets. There's a growing indication that customers may be encouraged to collect their device in-store, even after ordering online.

Although Apple initially aimed for January, an Apple insider said there might be a delay, and it could come out before March if nothing goes wrong. Buying one won't just be ordering online or dropping by the shop.

Reports suggested these devices will only be accessible through an appointment system, similar to the initial launch of the Apple Watch.

But Apple's plan for telling everyone about their new mixed-reality headset looks smart. At $3,499 a pop, folks will likely want to see it up close. How the workers are trained will affect what first impressions are of Vision Pro and could decide how well it does when it starts.

No Certain Date Yet

Recent reports said that despite its mention at WWDC 2023, Apple hasn't narrowed down the date beyond early 2024. Mark Gurman's "Power On" newsletter reveals tasks still need to be done, like testing devices fully and planning how to send them out.

Availability will start with a limited launch in the U.S. and then spread to other spots of the world.

Apple wants to watch the launch closely by only allowing purchases through their shops or setting appointments, bypassing other stores.

Problems like stocking various head straps and lens styles add to the complex logistics. While the hardware aims for a March release, software progress is still under January launch guidelines. Things added to the visionOS developer beta test showing active late testing and work suggests improvement.

Before the debut of Apple's Vision Pro headset, speculation linked the company's AR efforts to this device.

Susan Prescott and Steve Sinclair shared insights in an interview detailing how Apple engaged developers and prepared for the headset's launch.

Sinclair highlighted the integration of Vision Pro with Apple's ARKit developer framework, indicating a strategic alignment between technologies. This sheds light on the groundwork behind Vision Pro's development and its synergy with Apple's broader AR initiatives, marking a deliberate step in integrating advanced AR capabilities into the headset.
