In an ultimate expression of gratitude, LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner has gifted an Apple iPad Mini to every one of LinkedIn's 3,458 full-time employees.
Bringing the news out to the world, Mike Grishaver, a product manager who works on the company's marketing solutions team, took it to the social media where heposted, "Jeff 'Winfrey' Weiner gives an iPad Mini to every LinkedIn employee at Company All-Hands to recognize awesome recent results!," ZD Net reports.
The professional social networking site is giving its employees 32GB iPad Mini models in white or black. Confirming the giveaway, a LinkedIn spokesperson said, "We wanted to acknowledge the hard work and accomplishments of all of our employees in 2012. During today's bi-weekly All Hands meeting, we surprised our employees with iPad Minis as a small gesture of the company's gratitude for their contributions," the Business Insider notes.
The company has undoubtedly shelled out some big bucks after the outstanding quarterly results as the total bill would amount to $1,151,500.00 for the estimated 3,500 employees if each iPad Mini costs $329. However, the Business Insider has quoted an employee who claims to have received the $429, 32 GB model, not the less-expensive $329 model.
Beating the Wall Street expectations, LinkedIn reported a massive fourth-quarter earnings per share of 35 cents, revenue of $303.6 million, and net income of $11.5 million. Weiner said the impressive earnings were the results of a year of product innovation, after investment in its back-end infrastructure in 2011.
"Members are becoming increasingly active on LinkedIn," and "Our vision is to create economic opportunity for every professional. Much longer term, that's where we want to be able to focus," he said.
The company expects the revenues to go up to $1.44 billion which would be a 48 percent increase over 2012.
