Disney Interactive is coming up with a new game, called Disney Infinity, which will launch on nearly every platform available in June.
The gaming initiative brings together the world of the Walt Disney Company and Pixar Animations Studio from the past, present, and also from the future. About 30 character figures will be available at the launch.
"Disney Infinity is a platform that will grow and diversify. It will be global and live across all platforms: Console, mobile, and online," said John Pleasants, Co-President of Disney Interactive, in a statement.
The game includes three playsets - Monsters University, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Incredibles, which will contain characters from the original movies. The play sets will act as standalone titles and follows the regular story mode, but the real fun is with what Disney calls "Toy Box" mode.
With the Toy Box, players can create an entire world from scratch and share it globally with other players.
"Disney Infinity combines prominent Disney and Pixar characters and scenarios in a way that mimics how kids play in real life. With our platform's unique gameplay mechanics and innovative approach to user generated content within the 'Toy Box' mode, Disney Infinity will spark imaginations and provide endless hours of fun and creativity," said John Blackburn, vice president at Avalanche Software.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Blackburn revealed that there will be a free version of the game, but didn't provide further details about the free version or how mobile gaming fits in the equation.
The action-adventure game will launch in June and plans are afoot to make it available on possible every popular platform out there, including PC, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 3, and iOS.
The starter pack with software, board, and three characters will cost $74.99. The playset pack will cost $34.99, while an infinity figure will cost $12.99. Figure three-packs are priced at $29.99 and the power disc pack is $4.99.
Here's is the official trailer showing Mr. Incredible, Jack Sparrow, Mike Wazowski, and James P. Sullivan together in a cinematic gameplay.
