Warning: One UI 6/Android 14 Update May Disrupt Android Auto on Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23, and More
Austin JayFollowing Samsung's wide release of the Android 14 update, several Galaxy users have encountered a setback: wireless Android Auto functionality breaking on their devices.
Samsung's latest software, One UI 6.0, built on Android 14, commenced rollout in late October 2023, reaching over 40 Galaxy devices smoothly.
However, reports have surfaced on Google's forums indicating issues with Android Auto post-update. Users across various Galaxy models-Galaxy S22+, S22 Ultra, Galaxy A54, and the Galaxy S23 series-have experienced wireless connection failure with Android Auto.
This problem emerged as Samsung accelerated its Android 14 rollout towards the end of November 2023, causing concerns among affected users.
Those affected report that wireless connections don't work at all, or they're very unstable and only work briefly.
Google has acknowledged the issue by adding it to its "Known Issues" list this week, and a community specialist also chimed in on the thread.
However, there's been no fix as of yet.
Presumably, the issue can be fixed through an app update from Google, which would be faster than waiting on a complete system patch from Samsung.
Luckily, affected users are still able to use Android Auto; they need to use a cable instead of a wireless connection or wireless adapter.
Galaxy users aren't alone here. More than a few Google Pixel owners have also been running into wireless Android Auto issues on Android 14, though only following the December 2023 update. This issue is not nearly as widespread.

Several Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S22+, S22 Ultra, Galaxy A54, and the Galaxy 23 series, encountered issues with Android Auto's wireless functionality post-update to Android 14. Complaints on Google's forums highlighted wireless connections' complete failure or instability, prompting Google to acknowledge these concerns by adding them to its "Known Issues" list.
Despite acknowledgment, a solution remains pending.
On a brighter note, the latest Google Maps iteration for Android Auto brings a helpful feature. Upon reaching their destination, users are prompted to save their parking location, ensuring they can quickly locate their parked vehicle with a simple "Save Parking Location" button on the navigation screen.
Google's delayed Coolwalk update for Android Auto brought significant interface changes, introducing a CarPlay Dashboard-like feature allowing multiple apps to run concurrently on the screen.
However, this update has been plagued by freezing issues, particularly affecting the lower screen section, rendering the taskbar and app switching inaccessible. The problem surfaced weeks after its rollout in January, persisting despite Google's updates throughout 2023.
Users attempted various fixes, including reinstalling Android Auto and clearing cache, to no avail.
Recently, a solution emerged involving toggling specific Android settings related to animations and transparency, potentially alleviating the freezing bug. This fix aims to revert settings that inadvertently triggered Coolwalk's cool glitch, offering a potential remedy for affected users.
To sum it up, Samsung's Android 14 update has caused wireless Android Auto disruptions on Galaxy S22, S23, and more models. Despite acknowledgment from Google, no fix has been provided yet. However, users can resort to cable connections.
Meanwhile, a Google Maps update adds a convenient parking location-saving feature.
