If you're a student, it's most important to get information quickly either from your teacher or the groupmates. And the easiest way to do it is with your phone and various apps that allow you to chat and study at the same time without interruption. Socialization is an important part of every human being, especially a student, so chats are a great option to communicate. Here is the list of some popular and handy mobile apps for this.

1. Apple iMessage

iMessage unites all the Apple gadgets into a huge web over the world, so it unites half of the mobile users on the planet - of course, it's the most popular chat app between students. Being on iMessage is like joining some sort of a private club. But on the other hand, you can't connect to Android users through it, and it's a big problem and a shuttlecock between two camps of the phone owners.

2. Facebook Messenger

It's no wonder that the messenger from the largest social network is one of the most widespread for all purposes, including studies. Its greatest pro is that one can communicate without a phone provider, just through WiFi. The messenger is constantly improving to remain up-to-date with evolving technology and users' needs.

3. GroupMe

Another service not so connected with the phone number is GroupMe. Its main advantage is that it provides an easy way to talk to a large group of people like a class or a sports team without giving them your personal data. That's why it is no less popular for study than the previous two apps.

4. Google Hangouts

The fourth popular service is certainly from such a media giant like Google. In short, it's the platform where Gmail users can make video calls and communicate without a cell phone network. It's handy for urgent messages on work or study as well as for substituting face-to-face talk.

5. Slack

Slack is not merely a messenger but a workspace created for business tasks, so it prepares a student for the future work apart from giving them an ideal group chat. Yes, it has the option of private chats as well, but this is not its main feature. Slack is great for big projects with future outlooks allowing all the participants to get in touch with ease.

6. Discord

In spite of being mostly a gamers' app, Discord has won popularity among young people of all interests. It provides a wide range of communication means, including video calls, broadcasting, voice, and text messages. The only problem is not to watch what games your friends are playing while you grind for your exam.

7. Snapchat

Snapchat is another pathbreaker among messengers but in a quite different way. Maybe it's hard for the senior generation to make it how those pics and filters can be in use for study, but nevertheless, they are! Now it's one of the most popular apps for the students to chat about everything from maths to fashion trends and keeps increasing its market reach.

8. RCS

Rich Communication System (RCS) is the future answer to the interminable controversy between iOs and Android users despite being available on Android only now. It reminds iMessage with its text services and high-resolution media exchange and, at the same time, is absolutely open to development, thus being a nice alternative to the chats above.

9. Skype

Although old, Skype is still a classic messenger both for video and texting on business or study matters. It took the lead in personal and group video chats, while other messengers only improved what it discovered. It is still popular among major companies and universities for group calls.

10. Whatsapp

Whatsapp is a really huge platform for communication all over the world, remaining popular despite lots of new apps snap at its heels. It functions in 180 countries, being really hard to vie with. It left behind Viber, Telegram, Microsoft Teams, and WeChat in this chart, so it's not too old yet!

And let's make a quick look at the last (but not the least) apps often used by students:

Viber is extremely easy to use and provides the widest range of message types even beyond its borders, allowing you to send them to non-Viber numbers. There are tons of different updates for it in the mobile stores.

Microsoft Teams is an app for Microsoft's Office 365 users with a large set of features, tools, and message types, including enterprise security.

Telegram is the app for those who care about security and privacy. Once being a simple chat, it has developed to a full social media still sticking to its main feature.

And finally, WeChat is an app spreading from China where it gained wide popularity. It's very much oriented to informal chatting and finding friends, but why not use its options to find a course leader?
